The Bhagoria Festival is a vibrant tribal celebration of Madhya Pradesh, primarily observed by the Bhil tribes in regions like Jhabua and Alirajpur. The word Bhagoria means “to run away” or “elope,” and the festival is popularly known as a traditional bride-choice festival, where young men and women select their life partners through age-old customs.

Celebrated in March, just before the colorful festival of Holi, Bhagoria transforms tribal markets (haats) into lively spaces filled with music, dance, and celebration.
