Joranda Mahima Sadhu Festival 2024

Joranda Mela of Odisha has religious spirit associated with it. Joranda Mela is organized in Joranda of Dhenkanal district, hence the name Joranda Fair. People across India congregate in Joranda to observe this mega fair. The fair is held annually on the full moon day of Hindi calendar month Magha (in January- February).

A Havan or Yagya is held in ‘Yajna Kund’ as a part of mela celebrations. Thousands of liters of ghee are offered and burned in havan fire to ensure bringing back peace to life on earth and all the people will be gifted with all his basic needs. Atmosphere reverbs with the sound of ‘Alekh Brahma’ by devotees in rhythmic tone. This unique itinerary also ends with another colourful Rajim kumbha mela at rajim, in Chhattisgarh state. And the colourful dance festival at Konark.

  • Day 01: WED, 21st February 2024 - Bhubaneswar

    Depending on your time of arrival you will explore Bhubaneswar, visit the temples of the temple city in a chronological manner the rich cultural heritage, the Jain caves, Tribal Museum.

    Overnight stay in a hotel.

  • Day 02: THU, 22nd February 2024 - Dhenkanal - Joranda Sadhu Festival

    Morning after breakfast you will leave the resort for Dhenkanal to enjoy the Mahima monks’ festival!

  • Day 03: FRI, 23rd February - Dhenkanal - Joranda Sadhu Festival

    It is the festival of Mahima religion Sadhus (holy men). In their main monastery at Joranda near Dhenkanal annually. The unique worship of supreme sadhus’ (who wear only lean tree bark on their lower part) at their monastery and the holy fire, which is for peace and harmony for the universe with 11 ft. Fire stand attract many thousand visitors and devotee throughout the state.

  • Day 04: SAT, 24th of February 24 - Satkosia

    Morning drive to the reserve of Satkosia. Enjoy a walk through this marvel of the nature and even a boat trip with the rangers if possible. Stay at the Eco resort.

  • Day 05: SUN, 25th of February 24 - Puri

    After breakfast, short drive to Puri, the holy town of lord Jagannath. Explore Puri by heritage walk with Green Rider rickshaw ride covering old buildings, water tanks, craft centers, and the majestic views of the great Jagannath temple, cremation place. Free afternoon for sunset walk along the beach market.

  • Day 06: MON 26th Feb - Puri-Konark-Puri

    Today we shall visit the villages around Puri during morning and lunch in a village followed by a typical GOTIPUA DANCE. Then drive to KONARK, the World Heritage site. Witness the spectacular light and sound show, which explains the history and mythology of the 13th Century Gem of Odishan architecture. Back to Puri.

  • Day 07: TUE, 27th Feb 2024 - Chilika Lake - Bhubaneswar - Fly Out

    Early morning, visit the famous Chilika Lake, one of the largest backwater lagoons of Asia and truly a paradise for nature lovers. The boat cruise in the lap of nature is very peaceful. Enjoy the life of the fishermen’s village.

    Then drive to Bhubaneswar to board your flight to your onward journey.
