Odisha agriculture is the major contributor to the state economy. Agriculture is the chief occupation in Odisha as 76 % of the total working population is engaged in agriculture and agriculture related industries. Odisha is one of the largest producers of rice in India. The major crops cultivated in odisha are rice, oil seeds, pulses, coconut, sugar cane, cotton, turmeric, jinger, maize, Ragi, cofee etc.

This special tour designed for both domestic and international visitors to show case the rich agriculture of Odisha and the farmers or cultivators life style, their villages. community life, traditional farming,  agricultural pattern, grains, farm and also give an opportunity to engage the visitors in harvesting or similar agricultural activities for an unforgettable memory.

  • Day 1: Visakhapatnam

    Arrival at Visakhapatnam and meet our representative and transfer to a nice hotel along the sea. If time permits, visit the fish market along the harbor site, which is one of the largest fish markets of India. The traditional fisherman with their boats, various type explore of fishes, fish drying, marketing activities are worth to explore.

  • Day 2: Arakku Valley - Desia community tourism center

    Early departure for Visakhapatnam railway station to catch the Kirondal passenger train to get the taste of scenic Arakku valley and its Coffee plantation. The Arakku coffee is one of the best coffee in quality and taste. Coffee garden around Arakku valley gives the tribes an opportunity to earn and maintain their family. Visit the coffee garden, coffee museum, tribal museum, tasting the local coffee using the local coffee beans. Further drive by road through jeypore tract in koraput district which is a highland statue with a number of high hills of incredible scenic beauty. Koraput valley has received the honour from food and Agriculture Organisation as Among the Globally important Agricultural heritage system as it nests world’s oldest rice varieties as old as 3000 years old. The ethnic tribes are still practicing century old traditional practices in the field of agriculture.

    Welcome to DESIA (a responsible social enterprise, looking after and support the tribal community of koraput valley). Afternoon visit the MALI tribal village who are very good in agriculture. Meet their family, visit their agricultural field and observe and participate in the agricultural activities, Overnight stay in the simple and authentic accommodation at DESIA.

  • Day 3: Desia and Excursion to various tribal villages

    Enjoy the traditional breakfast like Ragi cake with local honey, fresh fruits, arakku cofee along the riverside. Then start the day by visiting various tribal villages of paraja, gadaba, mali, harijan communities. Meet the people, visit their agricultural land and their unique terrace cultivation of indigenous rice crops, mahua plant, ethnic houses etc. enjoy the walk in the nature and afternoon enjoy the music and dance with the community. Overnight stay at Desia.

  • Day 4: Desia - Excursion to Gupteswar

    Visit the Dhuruba tribes in the forest and see their bamboo craft. The Dhuruba tribes are forest dwellers and inhabit in the Gupteswar region of Ramayan fame. The beautiful saveri river, Gupteswar cave shrines are nearby places fill with bounty nature. visit their villages and schooland farming etc. while back to Desia, enroute visit the pottery village to leran and observe the traditional pottery work. Evening participate in a cooking lesson to learn the odishan cuisine. Overnight stay at Desia.

  • Day 5: Koraput

    Morning do the plantation in the Desia garden to encourage our green koraput campaign and after lunch, proceed to Koraput to catch the overnight train for Brahmapur. Visit the tribal museum at koraput and also the hilltop Jagannath temple.

  • Day 6: Brahmapur

    Arrival at Brahmapur and drive about 2 hours and stay in an eco farm. Enroute visit the sugar cane, rice crops, beautiful rural villages. Visit the fishery farm, ginger, turmeric plantation and craft making village. Enjoy the stay in a simple and authentic guest house surrounding with a beautiful nature.

    Day 7: Mangalajodi Eco Village

    Morning nature walks with breakfast. Then visit the sanctuary for endangered black buck and further drive to Mangalajodi village along the Chilika lake. Here the villagers are the bird poachers earlier and now transformed into bird Conservationist. each villagers are now eco guide, bird lover, boat maker, farmer etc. Afternoon enjoy the catamaran ride into the water creeks to meet various birds in the nature. Also walk in the mangalajodi village to see the boat making activities. Overnight stay in a simple homestay or in an eco accommodation run by the local community.

    Day 8: Puri

    Today visit beautiful rural villages like weavers village, painter and artisan village, fisherman  village which will bring you a close insight of their daily lives, activities, simple living etc, Welcome to puri,  a beautiful pilgrim and spiritual town along the sea. Overnight stay in a simple homestay or in a heritage hotel.

  • Puri-Sea-Beach-Odisha

    Day 9: Puri

    Morning relax by the sea. Then short visit to Coconut farmers village, visit the coconut farms, meet the coconut plant riders, women groups engaged in coir production, coir craft. Enjoy a lunch at a coconut farmer family to taste the various cuisine of coconut like rice cake with coconut, rice with coconut, coconut chatani, coconut with prawn, coconut with spinach, coconut with dal etc. After a delicious lunch, drive to Konark to visit the unesco recognized majestic sun temple. Drive to Puri through casuarine forest and back to your hotel or homestay and overnight.

  • Day 10: Bhubaneswar Drop

    Drive to Bhubaneswar to visit the beautiful living temples in the old city. Then visit the herbal garden to see the various medicinal plants, feel the aroma, cactus garden at Ekamra botanical garden, and afternoon or evening drop at the railway station or airport to board your train or flight for the onward journey.
