The Odishan temples are unique, for its architectural style and art forms. Odisha (Orissa) is home to some of the finest temples in the country. The temples in Odisha are said to have given supreme expression to architecture. Taking the Kalinga pattern of architecture to its culmination,, the temples are unique in both plan elevation and decoration motifs.

Architecture in Odisha found its supreme expression in the form of temples, some of which are among, finest in the country. Of these, three are most famous the Lingaraja temple at Bhubaneswar (11th century), the Jagannath Temple at Puri (12th century) and the great Sun Temple at Konark (13th century). These mark the culmination of a distinct style of architecture called the Kalingan School of architecture remarkable in its plan elevation and details of decoration. In the simplest form, a temple of this style consists of a structural due, the main temple or shrine and the frontal porch. While the main temple, called Viman or Deula, is the sanctum enshrining the presiding deity, the porch or assembly hall called Jagamohana is the place for gathering of devotees, who wish to do prayer. Later two more structures added, called Bhogamandap, place of offering and Dancing hall, a hall shaped structure for dance performance. Considering the style of architecture, the temples of three types, known as  Rekha style, Pidha style and Khakhara style.

    Day 1: Bhubaneswar

    Welcome to Bhubaneswar, meet and greet by our representative and transfer to a decent hotel/homestay with Check-in assistance. Post lunch visit to old city to explore the ancient temples on a chronological order. Visit the oldest  Parasurameshwar Temple, artistic, Mukteshwar Temple, beautiful Rajarani Temple and the grandest Lingaraj Temple. Bhubaneswar is also known as City of temples once had 7000 temples and still around 500 temples are preserved. Evening stroll around Bindusarovar tank and enjoy your dinner in a local restaurant.

    Day 2: Konark

    After breakfast checkout and proceed to visit the Yogini temple (9th century AD) at Hirapur. Excursion the 64 category of mother cult with different vehicle and different hair style. Yogini temple: Were the active center for Tantrism practice and a very powerful temple for Shakti worship.

    Then after proceed to Chaurasi (8th century AD). enjoy the package lunch at Chaurasi and witness the Barahi temple (Khakaramundi temple)and other ancient temples. Then drive to Konark to witness the lllumiated sun temple at Konark and enjoy your stay in an eco resort along the riverside back water or in a decent hotel run by Odisha tourism.

  • Puri-Sea-Beach

    Day 3: Puri

    Early morning sun rising visit of the great sun temple – A thirteenth century stone chariot and listen from a local expert  the myth and history of this Unesco recognised world heritage.  Back to the resort\hotel  and after breakfast, proceed to Puri. Enroute enjoy the drive through  scenic Balukhand forest sanctuary and also visit the sand art exhibition center. Upon arrival at Puri, transfer to a hotel along the beach or  homestay. Evening walk along the Blueflag beach /Neeladri beach and also along the colourful beach market. Overnight stay in Puri.

  • Puri-Jagannath-Temple-Odisha

    Day 4: Puri and Local Sightseeing

    Puri is a very holy and spiritual place for Lord jagannath temple. The devotees from all over India and abroad come to Puri to visit the twelveth century jagannath temple ( entry restricted to  Non Hindus). The local priest will guide and assist you for a guaranteed darshan of Lord Jagannath, inside the main temple. Also visit mata laxmi temple, mata BImala temple and walk around the main temple to study the great stone architecture.

    Afternoon explore Puri town by the national tourism awarded Green rider rickshaw ride, which covers ancient water tanks like Swetaganga, Narendra, Markandeswar tank, the narrow lanes through Old Puri, the old buildings and shrines, ancient monasteries.

    Overnight stay in Puri.

    Day 5: Bhubaneswar Departure

    Morning check out and after breakfast proceed to Bhubaneswar to board your afternoon or evening train /flight for return to home.

    Enroute visit to Raghurajpur artist and painter village which is a heritage village showcasing the pattachitra painting and palm leaf etching art. Meet the eminent painters and appreciate their work and support them by purchasing a souvenir to your home. Then drive to Bhubaneswar to board your onward train or flight to back home.
