KONARK DANCE FESTIVAL-2011

Is a colourful dance festival , held every year from 1st dec to 5th dec at Konark in the back drop of the majestic sun temple. The mega event is held in an open dance hall and showcases best traditional and classical dance forms of India. During the festival entire konark reverberates with the sounds of flute, tabala, the elegant gesture,expressive face of the dancers enchant the visitors. An amazing crafts mela is held during the dance festival .come and enjoy this colourful festival .

D-1-NOV-21st-2011-Mon- VISAKHAPATNAM_RAYAGADA (210km,5hr)

Arrival Visakhapatnam and meet our Heritgetours representative and transfer Rayagada by road. check into a decent hotel. evening orientation about the tour programme followed by welcome drink .

D-2-NOV_22nd-2011-Tue- DESIA TRIBE_RAYAGADA(60km,1 and half hr)

Visit Desia Tribe weekly market {1 hr) and then pottery and jewellary making village nearby. Enjoy the lunch prepared by our cook near the waterfall. afternoon trekking(1to 2 hrs) to meet the primitive dunguria hill tribe in their hilltop village- where the young ladies weave a special kind of hand nitten shawl which is the symbol of love and brotherhood . return back to the\hotel at Rayagada for overnight stay.

D-3-NOV-23rd-2011-wed- DUNGURIA TRIBE_JEYPORE(210 km,6 hr)

visit the Dunguria kondh weekly market in the early morning where the tribal community come down the hill with their horticultural products such as pine apple, jack fruit, papaya etc and in return they go back with their  most essential things like dry fish, live chicken, salt,match stick etc. after few memorable hours in the market drive to jeypore and stay in a decent hotel.

D-4-NOV-24th-2011-thu-BONDA TRIBE_JEYPORE(70km,2hr)

On this day we visit the most interesting bonda tribes in their weekly market at Onkadelli( 2 hrsdrive) where they come to sale their home made alcohol. Also meet other colourful tribes such as godaba , Didayi, Mali who come to the same market. After few hrs in the market, lunch at the nearby spectacular waterfall and then during afternoon take a short walk to the nearby tribal villages. Drive back to the hotel at Jeypore and overnight.

D-5-NOV-25th-2011-fri- KUNDULI_JGANNATH TEMPLE_TRIBALMUSEUM

witness the largest weekly market of paraja, rana, Mali tribes at Kunduli. Then short drive to Nandapur region to explore the ancient jain monuments at Subei. After taking a traditional lunch visit the Jagannath temple at koraput ( where all the different religious sect are allowed )and also the tribal museum to learn and study the tribes. overnight in the hotel at Jeypore.

D-6-NOV-26th2011-sat-DHURUBATRIBES_GUPTESWAR CAVES_ RAYAGADA (260km,6hr)

After early breakfast, trekking ( 1 hr) to exploe the Dhuruba tribal village and their lifestyle besides the saveri river. Excursion to the hidden shiva shrine and take a holy vegetarian lunch nearby. then drive towards Baligaon- afternoon market famous for cattle and crops trading. drive to Rayagada (5hrs) and overnight stay in the hotel.

D-7-NoV-27th 2011-sun-SAURA tribe-TAPTAPANI(180km)

Check out and proceed to taptapani. Enroute visit the lanjia saura aryan tribes in their village. explore their lifestyle and their famous wall painting IDITTAL. Overnight and relax by hot sulpher bath at the hotel at Taptapani.

D-8-NOV28th2011--MON-Chilika lagoon-boating-Rambha(100km,3hr)

Drive towards Rambha- Chilika lagoon(3hrs drive) . take a special hygienic lunch at a punjabi Dhaba. afternoon enjoy the catamaran riding in the beautiful chilika lake. overnight stay in the hotel overlooking to the beauty of the nature

D-9-NOV29th2011-tue-jain cave-textile village-JORANDA

Drive towards Joranda (6hr). Enroute visit the textile village at Nuapatna where the villagers are weaving the special tie and dye sarees, clothing. After taking the royal lunch at the palace( dhenkanal) short drive to Joranda(1hr) famous for mahima religion center where the unique Mahima monks offer everyday special worship and ritual for the world peace and harmony. Witness the special prayer during the sun setting and return back to the palace at dhenkanal for a comfortable stay.

D-10-NOV30th2011--wed-Yogini temple-Dhauli-Pipili-Puri

Visit the sixty four Yogini temple at Hirapur famous for tantric cult.Then visit the famous Ashokan rock inscription and peace pagoda at Dhauli. Explore pipli known for appliqué work. Further drive to Puri and transfer to a beachside hotel.

D-11-DeC1st2011—Puri-RuralVILLAGE TOUR(50km)-Konark Dance Festival

Explore the nearby rural villages which is serene and sublime for the rice field, thatched houses, canal and back water and the coconut fringes and not the end are the ever smiling hospitable people. Specially the handicraft and painter village, farmer village, coir village are worth visiting. Afternoon visit the fisherman village near the Chandrabhaga beach. evening witness the dance festival and the artist camp. Drive back to the same hotel at Puri and overnight..

D-12-Dec-2nd2011-Puri- Local site seeing and Konark Dance festival

Explore the holy town Puri by cycle rickshaw ride through the typical and traditional lanes filled with old buildings, ritual water tanks, small shrines. Then view the great sight of the magnificent  Jagannath temple from an old library building top. Afternoon excursion to Konark to witness the magnificent sun temple and world heritage site. EVENING enjoy the classical dances in the open air theater perform by the eminent artist of india.

D-13-Dec3rd 2011--Bhubaneswar(65 km, 1 and1\2 hr)

Drive to Bhubaneswar  to explore the temple city by visiting the ancient temples in a chronological order.  Afternoon visit the ancient jain caves at khandagiri and udaygiri. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel.
